A few years ago if someone had of told me I'd quit my strategy job to channel guidance from the spirit realm I would have done this:
Yet here I am a few years later doing just that, acting as a cosmic postal worker and guide delivering messages to people who need a bit of help from the universe. This is my life purpose and today I want to talk about yours.
Here are 5 things you need to know about your life purpose that a career site won't tell you:
1. YOUR LIFE PURPOSE IS PRE-APPROVED
This means it's already been defined. You have a role to play during your time here and it's really freaking important. Let's just say you weren't brought to Earth to be an Analyst or Sales Person. That might be your job, but it's not your life purpose.
2. YOUR LIFE PURPOSE IS NOT 'CLASSIFIED'
Your life purpose isn't lying in a black hole somewhere and you don't need to spend 30 days and nights meditating in a dark cave to find it despite what some people will tell you. All you need is a way to access it.
3. FINDING OUT CAN BE AS FAST OR AS SLOW AS YOU WANT
If you want to take the scenic route, you can go on a pilgrimage, wait for your 3rd eye to open or just spend 30 years in a job you hate until you've finally had enough and are ready to hear it.
The thing is with purpose is that some people will never find it and others will find it far too late. Taking the scenic route, whilst beautiful, doesn't always bring answers because it's a bit like trying to find a very specific destination without a map. If you want to go somewhere fast, you need a map, a plan and a way to fly.
4. YOUR PURPOSE MIGHT NOT FIT THE LIFE YOU'VE PLANNED
As I said, if someone had of told my strategist self a few years ago I'd quit my job to write spiritual books and channel information I would have told them they were crazy.
You might not be ready to receive what you're here to do, but isn't it better to know now than to spend years running in the wrong direction? If you've even got an inkling that what you're doing isn't right, then chances are it's not. Start asking questions and start putting your feelers out.
5. DON'T PRETEND YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING
There is no place for ego here. Most of us have no idea what we're doing, but if we had a subtle or swift kick in the right direction we'd feel a whole lot better and our happiness could potentially skyrocket. When it comes to finding out what your purpose is, the best thing you can do is admit you have no idea and have an open mind. I fell into strategy because it was a door that opened. The good news is I fell out of it as quickly as I fell in because I was willing to consider there might be something else I was born to do.
WHEN YOU MEET YOUR LIFE PURPOSE, YOU'LL KNOW
Maybe it'll feel mystical, maybe it won't. Maybe it'll just make sense and you'll go 'Ohhhh, so that's it.' Finding out your life purpose can be mind blowingly crazy or it can just make you feel calm. In my time delivering these messages I've had every possible response, but most people just feel good knowing they're not going to waste any more time.
Friends and fans of Top Gun, when it comes to your life purpose, riding into the danger zone isn't your search for purpose. The danger zone is staying exactly where you are right now in a career you don't love for the rest of your life.
If you want to find your purpose, you need to be ready and willing to take some risks and have an open mind as to what you'll discover.
You too can be as happy as Charlie and Maverick and there are plenty of spiritual wingmen and women who can help you find your way. Finding your purpose doesn't have to be a solo mission, it can be an amazing and fulfilling ride that will actually change your life.
